I am currently sat in my pyjamas (yes, it is 2 in the afternoon) on the stairs, as this is the only place where I can get wireless, and I have been thinking about where I was just under a year ago today. I was just about to graduate with a 2:1 in Zoology from the University of Manchester, excited but mostly terrified about what was coming up next. One year on, I am 22, recently moved home with my parents and in the process of completing an Mphil thesis in animal welfare research (more on this later...). I am still however, just as nervous and apprehensive about what is coming next... find a job? Do a Phd? Crawl into another undergraduate bubble of freshers weeks and skipping lectures?!
Zoology Graduation '11 (me in the purple dress)
I do have one solid plan for coming years, which is force myself to travel, push myself out of my comfort zone and do the things that in my heart of hearts I fiercely long to do. For someone as wary, untravelled and geographically challenged as myself, you'll understand that this is no mean feat, and it has taken every scrap of confidence to book myself onto a volunteering project in Namibia next year, but hopefully I will travel more and more as the year goes on.
For now this blog will mostly consist of my day to day activities and silly ramblings, but I hope that it will turn into more of travel blog when next year arrives. Let's wait and see what happens...
